Nomination Instruction Sheet
Thank you for nominating your company for the AustCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards 2010 (ACBA:2010).
The AustCham Australia-China Business Awards were established in 1993 to recognise, promote and reward the excellence of Australian business operating in Greater China.
The AustCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards 2010 will be celebrated at a Gala Award Ceremony on Thursday 11 November 2010 in Shanghai. A company representative will be expected to be available for judging and key ceremonial dates.
Any company, whether or not they are a Member of the Australian Chambers of Commerce or any other organising or supporting business organisation can enter. For a full list of rules and further information on the judging criteria please refer to The Rules and The Judging Criteria.
The judging process is as follows:
- The Nominee self-nominates for an Award in one of six Award categories. If the company is unsure of the most appropriate category then multiple nominations may be submitted. The Judging Panel, in its absolute discretion, will determine the category in which any nominee company shall be considered. All such determinations by the Judging Panel will be final and not subject to review.
- The Nominee completes the form within the specified timeframe and returns it to AustCham. The answers should focus on the Nominee's performance over the last twelve months and state overall achievements up to the present time (include achievements expected up to the date of the Awards Ceremony). All questions must be answered and all sections of the from must be completed for a company to be considered for an Award. Illegible or incomplete entries may be declared invalid.
- The nomination is an important document that must be completed by an officer of the company who has best knowledge and who must agree to the terms and conditions and confirm the truth and accuracy of the information provided. All information is private and confidential and information is used for the purpose of judging only. Background information will be asked for from finalists for advertising, marketing and editorial purposes at a later stage.
- Prior to review by the Judging Panel, all completed forms will be subject to validation of its contents.
- In promotion of the Awards, the names of all nominees and their nominated Awards categories will be listed at www.austchamchina.com and the websites of other participating organisations. The public will be able to forward information supporting nominations to the Organiser for appropriate validation.
- The Organiser will provide all validated forms to the Judging Panel for review. In addition to information provided in the forms, the Judging Panel will consider such other relevant information relating to the nominees having regard to the Judging Criteria. The Judging Panel may, in its absolute discretion but shall not be obliged to, take such further steps as it considers reasonable to verify any information provided to it in relation to the nominees.
- The Judging Panel will then determine the finalists (usually three but up to five) in each category. The list of finalists is made public and all nominees are informed of their status.
- The finalists are invited to meet face-to-face with the Judging Panel in Shanghai for an interview on Wednesday 20th October (video conferencing can be arranged). There is an opportunity to make a short presentation; however, the purpose of the interview is for the Judging Panel to ask questions so there is no need to repeat information already provided. A brief 5-minute background introduction is recommended. This is the ideal opportunity for a company to provide new and/or extra information which may be subject to further validation.
- All the decisions of the Judging Panel shall be final and not subject to review.
- The Judging Panel unanimously decides on the winner(s) in each category and this decision is not made public until it is announced at the Award Ceremony.
Please note that the Awards Gala will take place in Shanghai on Thursday 11 November 2010
